Winter weather can be mercurial. Check the weather report for this area and plan your travel accordingly. Snow plows do not operate on secondary roads between 8PM and 5AM. 4WD or AWD vehicles are recommended October through April when snow is likely. Tires should have good TREAD. Even a 4WD vehicle will not operate safely in the snow if the tires are bald or not made for all-weather driving. If you are not sure if your tires are in good enough shape for mountain driving in the snow, take it to a mechanic before traveling.
If you are unfamiliar with driving in the snow, particularly uphill, search online for tips. Sites like AAA have good information. The driveway is plowed and shoveled to the entrance. The driveway is plowed every several inches of fallen snow but if it is snowing, there may still be snow on the driveway. A shovel is provided, please keep the walkway maintained during your stay.

This was the worst vacation rental we’ve experienced. We booked this home for the July 4th weekend during a major heat wave with two babies. The listing advertised air conditioning but failed to disclose that it was only in the bedrooms—there was none in the living room, kitchen, or main living areas. Despite the forecast, no fans or accommodations were provided until much later. We also arrived to dirty dishes and cookware that had to be washed before use, and the advertised outdoor dining area wasn’t set up. When we raised these concerns, the hosts were defensive rather than helpful, showing little empathy or accountability. The home also appeared older and more worn than the photos suggested. Between the misleading listing, lack of cleanliness, poor preparation, and disappointing customer service, this was a frustrating experience. I would not recommend this property, especially for families with young children.
